25th Anniversary Appeal Expedition: Day 31

25-anniversary-expedition-day031Vingelen to Rørøs. 47km 9 1/2hrs. Wow… what an amazing day. I love skiing. I love Norway. I love skiing across Norway. I love snow. I love winter landscapes. I love feeling strong enough to ski forever. 😊 There was a lot to love about today… maybe even my best day yet-and I’ve had a lot of unforgettable days so far. This is awesome! Frozen farmland, picture postcard perfect… fresh from the snows of yesterday, dawn through a light mist and cold… below minus 20C again tonight. Snowed-up back lanes leading to a traverse of rolling moorland with snow dusted ski tracks all the way to a lunch time pit stop in Os… then back up into the hills northwards to Rørøs… again empty of people but hauntingly beautiful and reminding me over and over again that nature is the finest artist. From dawn till dusk alone on my skis in a winter wonderland… an unforgettable day.

PART 2

Today is a special day on my journey. I’ve been on my skis now for a month since starting from Lindesnes on the 14th January. 30 days of skiing, and one rest day… and I’m about to take another tomorrow. 😀 I’m in a place called Rørøs, and have traveled 857km and skied for 207hrs since leaving Lindesnes. This means that I’m approximately one third of my way to Nordkapp. I can’t believe how fast the days are passing. Of course I am having to put effort in to cover these distances and climb through these mountains… but the rewards have been immeasurable to me so far… and without question worth all the hard work involved. I’d like to take a moment to thank all of you for following me and sending me messages of support and encouragement. It massively helps when my legs feel heavy and motivation needs a boost. Because of your support I never feel lonely, and yet can enjoy being alone. Please help me spread the word about raising money for the Ulysses Trust Anniversary appeal: Here’s the link… https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/tanianoakes1 Now for that rest day!
