Chairman’s Fundraising Bike Ride: Training Blog #2

Our Chairman of Trustees, Air Vice-Marshal N J E Kurth CBE FRGS is back in the saddle to raise funds for The Ulysses Trust.

Nick completed the Prudential Ride London – Surrey 100 in 2018 to help raise funds for the Trust’s Anniversary Appeal. And he’s doing it all again this year! We asked him to keep a diary of his training in the build-up to the race.

Here’s his blog #2.

Once again, Nick was up and out early…

“Another 40+ miles done on Saturday morning; I am (almost) getting used to the 7 o’clock starts!  Conditions were just about perfect today. Got some Chiltern hills in at the start and then completed a loop on the Aylesbury plain. The views were great and kept seeing the same cyclists as they were doing similar loops to me but in the other direction. Have adopted a short hill at the end of my rides as a ‘tester’ to ensure that I have still some energy left and broke my Personal Record, set last Saturday.  (Need to liven up what seems, at times, endless miles to be covered!)

Nick managed to take a quick break from his pedaling to take a photo (above) of the lovely Chiltern countryside, looking back at the Aylesbury plain.

Please do consider sponsoring the Chairman’s challenge to complete the Ride London – Surrey 100 on 4 August.
