Sea Cadets Trafalgar Day Parade and Reception

The Trust’s Chairman, Air Vice-Marshal Nick Kurth, was a guest at Sunday’s Sea Cadet Trafalgar Day Parade and Reception at Horse Guards in London. Nick’s attendance was to acknowledge the support that The Ulysses Trust provides to the Sea Cadet movement.

Indeed, so far in 2019, the Trust has awarded over £25,000 to support Sea Cadet expeditions benefiting 131 young people taking part in 7 expeditions/activities. These range from rowing to participating in an adventure in the US.

Being of an RAF persuasion, Nick needed to spend some time understanding a new vocabulary, ranging from belay pins to side scuttles!  Nick did however catch-up with some Royal Marine colleagues.

Here are more details of the Sea Cadet Expeditions supported by The Ulysses Trust in 2019:

  1. Adventure Malta 2019 – 24 cadets from South Shields Sea Cadet Corps 315 Unit go trekking in Malta.
  2. Summer Rock 19 2019 – 48 London Area Sea Cadets undertake a range of activities in Surrey.
  3. Alpine Rock 2019 – 18 cadets from Sunbury & Walton Sea Cadets complete a multi-activity alpine training and expedition programme in Bavaria.
  4. Yankee Stirling Venturer 2019  – 21 Sea Cadets from TS Stirling travel to Massachusetts to undertake adventurous training activities, ceremonial, and leadership training in an international cadet setting.
  5. Snow Camp Venturer Excel 2019 – 5 Sea Cadets from TS Stirling go skiing in Italy.
  6. TS TIGER Bronze Qualifying Expedition 2019 – 3 Leicester Sea Cadets complete a rowing exercise in Northants.
  7. TS Jack Petchey 2019 – 12 Sea Cadets from Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth Sea Cadet Unit complete a sailing expedition around Poole. (report due shortly)
