HRH The Prince of Wales, Patron of the Ulysses Trust
We are privileged to enjoy the Patronage of The Prince of Wales who is a keen advocate of expeditions and adventurous activities.
Transcript of the above letter, sent from HRH Prince of Wales:
Since 2003, the United Kingdom's Reserve Forces have made a very significant contribution to British operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, where they have been required to work in the most dangerous and demanding of environments. As ever, recruitment, retention and high quality, challenging training are crucial to ensuring the men and women of the Reserve Forces can continue to provide their invaluable support to their colleagues from the Regular Forces.
The Ulysses Trust, of which I am particularly proud to be Patron, provides vital funds to ensure that those serving in the Reserve Forces can take part in expeditions which are physically demanding and mentally challenging - thereby developing the vital skills and attributes required on the field of battle. In addition to this, the Trust is now busy engaging with our Nation's youth, having extended its remit in 1996 to assist with Cadet training and development.
Since 1992, demand for funding from the Trust has steadily increased and the benefits to individuals, the Services and, of course, to society in general, have been both immediate and long-term. I can only commend the good work of the Ulysses Trust - long may it continue.
