Ambassador: Tania Noakes

I am first and foremost an adventurer, with a love of language and of story-telling, who is forever being drawn deeper into life through curiosity. My journey has led from growing-up in the flatlands of Essex, to service as an Officer in the British Army to qualifying as an IFMGA Mountain Guide.

In the winter of 2015, I organised and lead the first British Army expedition to traverse the European Alps on skis from Vienna to Nice, called Exercise Alpine Arc 2015. It was a journey of over 1,000km and 80,000m of ascent and descent, divided into 11 stages and taking 83 days to complete. It created the opportunity for over 60 servicemen and women to take part in a ski journey of a lifetime.

Many of the expeditions that I have organised for the Army Reserves have been supported by the Ulysses Trust. Now I hope to help the Trust raise money for our 25th Anniversary Appeal. In January 2018 I am planning to embark on a solo ski traverse of Norway from South to North.

My aim is to travel on foot or ski from the southern tip of Norway (Lidnespoint) to the most northerly point (NordCap), a distance of about 2,500km in a single winter season. I will start on the weekend of 13/14h January 2018 and have left 100 days to complete the traverse, which takes me to the end of April 2018 but I aim to complete it in 80 days!
